Don’t wait to be great
~Anonymous
I heard this five word phrase just the other day, and the thing quite possible could have changed my total world view. So often I wait for the next phase of my life to come up and then I think "if only this, then I can do this," or something along those general lines. Why do that? Why do I have to wait on anyone else, or any other circumstance? Why can I not go create greatness, It is not as if I have to take an ump-teen step process to get to a point that I believe can then start being great? Truth is, there is nothing in the way but me. I believe that we put up so many of our own roadblocks. It is like Bill Murray in "What About Bob?" the guy has created so many fears for himself that he fakes things, because if you have to fake them then they cannot be real. We so often fake our own barriers. We think of the worst possible situation, and if it could come through to be real, then why try at all. It is this little fear thing in the back our minds that holds us back. So today I want to do something great. It may be developing an entirely new program for Y Camp, or maybe it is as simple as a kiss to the forehead of my daughter. But if we start seeing life as greatness, and that it is there for the taking right in front of us, then maybe we get around our roadblocks. Sure their scary, but why wait, because we only get so much time in a day, in a lifetime really. If things have to get cleared out of our way like we think that do then we will end up never being great. So don’t wait today, go get the greatness – because that greatness is waiting for you.
Happy Adventures,
The Yeller
