Family Camp is Amazing
Family Camp is a long-standing tradition at Y Camp and has been happening every summer since the 1930’s. This week-long experience has been giving families the opportunity to connect, recreate, relax, and have an amazing family vacation. Each year is made special by a theme planned by elected mayors for the year. For 2011 Kurt and Lynette Rasmussen of Johnston are planning the theme of Candyland, and we at camp are looking forward to a sweet week at Y Camp. For more information please call Y Camp at 515-432-7558, or check out a great promotional video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_tU-ZrTJRY

Long tradition.... and how! I am a third generation family camper whos life roots began at Family Camp in 1974. I still remember how much it rained and rained that week. But, the fun and friendships never ended even while wearing raincoats all week. My first summer as staff was in 1979 with a Wild West Theme keeping all the cowboys and cowgirls that attended roping in a great time.
ReplyDeleteThe staff and campers during Famly Camp week truely become a close knit family in and of themselves during and leave with memories that will certainly last a lifetime.
I will never forget what is to me in my heart... "The Closest Place to Heaven on Earth."
