YMCA Supportive Housing

On Monday a group of Y Camp staff (Mike Havlik, Eric Jaeger, Cole Bowermaster, Larry Adams, and BJ Murray)  went down to the new YMCA Supportive Housing Campus in Downtown Des Moines.  They helped prepare a meal for the men and women there as well as a group of volunteers kicking off the new 365 Campaign.  First, the 365 Campaign focuses on helping others around you.  For 365 days those involved will help someone other than themselves.  This comes through efforts both big and small.  You can get more information about it at www.Join365.org . The five traveled down early Monday afternoon to get the first meal ever cooked in the new kitchen prepared.  The new equipment worked fantastic as they fixed chicken, baby red potatoes, corn, salad, and cookies.  It was a great start to the event and the five men had a great time working together cooking (although only two of the five had any idea what they were doing).  Eric and Larry really took the lead and the three others basically followed their lead and jumped in where they were needed.  Overall it was a moving and exciting event that they were a part of.
